Rotary type Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer
Rotary Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer
In thermal oxidation processes, the exhaust gas is heated to a sufficiently high temperature to oxidize hydrocarbon pollutants into water vapor and carbon dioxide.
In an RRTO air pollution control system, contaminated process air is first preheated by high-temperature clean gas through an integrated regenerative heat exchanger. This allows most of the combustion heat to be recovered.
When the process air enters the combustion chamber, the burner further raises the temperature to above 700°C, initiating oxidation of the pollutants. Oxidation is completed as the gas passes through the combustion chamber.
The high-temperature clean gas then passes through the regenerative heat exchanger, transferring its heat to the incoming exhaust stream for energy recovery.
Before discharge to the atmosphere, residual heat in the treated gas can also be recovered by downstream heat recovery systems for applications such as heating thermal oil, hot water, process air, or generating saturated steam.
Rotary RTO Features
- 99+% VOC destruction efficiency: All RRTO systems are designed to maintain VOC destruction efficiency above 99% during operation.
- Up to 97% Thermal Energy Recovery (TER): High-efficiency regenerative heat recovery reduces supplemental fuel demand.
- Low pressure drop: Designed to minimize system pressure loss.
- Tolerant of particulates and condensables: The system is designed to handle particulate matter and condensable compounds.
- Reeco® RL™ shop wired and tested: Systems are factory wired and tested, including large-capacity systems.
- Simple control program: Only one rotary valve is required.
- One limit switch: Simplifies system control and maintenance.
- Standardized controls: Common control architecture across all system sizes.
- Simple bakeout sequence: Standard bakeout mode with straightforward operating logic.
- Unique Rotary Valve Technology: Simplified mechanical design with fewer moving components.
Unique Rotary Valve Technology
Advantages of the Rotary Valve (Indexing Actuator)
- No inlet valve to become contaminated: The rotary design eliminates a conventional inlet valve.
- No gaskets to replace: Reduces routine replacement requirements.
- Self-cleaning indexing action: The indexing movement helps prevent material buildup.
- Reduced buildup on valve seats: Avoids the blockage concerns commonly associated with butterfly dampers in tower-type RTO systems.
- Less affected by condensables: The valve arrangement reduces condensate-related problems.
- Components located on the hotter outlet side: The elevated temperature helps reduce condensation on system components.
How Do We Achieve 99% Destruction Efficiency on All RL Systems?
Key Factors Affecting Destruction Efficiency
- Number of valves
- Valve sealing performance
- Chamber flushing
- Low differential pressure
Pressure Fluctuations
- 2-Chamber RTO ±2″ 50mmH2O
- 3-Chamber RTO ±1″ 25mmH2O
- 2-Chamber RTO ±1/10″ 2.5mmH2O (RRTO)
Easy to Maintain and Operate
Remote Maintenance and Diagnostic Support
The RRTO system can be accessed remotely for operator training, system diagnostics, and troubleshooting. Remote connectivity helps shorten response time when equipment abnormalities occur and improves maintenance efficiency.
